Dallas Paper Rips Ex-Workers’ Age Bias Suit In 5th Circ.

Law360, New York (November 22, 2011, 9:03 PM EST) -- Former employees of The Dallas Morning News Inc. who sued for age discrimination after being laid off in 2004 were fired for legitimate reasons, the company said in a Monday brief urging the Fifth Circuit to uphold the suit’s dismissal.

The brief, filed by appellees the Morning News, Belo Corp. and Belo Benefits Administrative Committee, said the employees were let go for various nondiscriminatory, objective reasons such as low performance evaluation ratings, error and accuracy problems, poor communication skills, inexperience and failure to follow directions....
