Wynn Can't Delay Slander Trial Against 'Girls' Creator

Law360, Los Angeles (November 23, 2011, 3:52 PM EST) -- A California state judge on Wednesday rejected casino mogul Steve Wynn’s request to delay a trial over allegations that “Girls Gone Wild” creator Joe Francis slandered Wynn by telling an Internet tabloid reporter that Wynn had threatened to murder him over a purported gambling debt.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Joanne O’Donnell told Wynn’s attorney Wednesday that the unavailability of an expert witness expected to testify about the harm caused by Francis’ purported statements was not sufficient grounds to push back a January trial date....
