Verizon Customers Bring Rate Hike Suit To Supreme Court

Law360, Washington (November 28, 2011, 5:09 PM EST) -- Verizon Wireless customers asked the U.S. Supreme Court last week to overturn a Third Circuit ruling that the mobile network operator could force the consumers to individually arbitrate a contract dispute over allegedly unlawful rate increases because they signed class arbitration waivers.

Verizon customers Keith Litman and Robert Wachtel accuse the Verizon Communications Inc. unit of imposing bogus administrative monthly charges even though the company is contractually obligated to provide cellphone service at a fixed price.
