Blagojevich Can't Play Wiretap Tapes At Sentencing

Law360, New York (November 28, 2011, 10:10 PM EST) -- An Illinois federal judge on Monday denied a request by former Gov. Rod Blagojevich, convicted in June on corruption charges, to reference or play for the court portions of confidential wiretap recordings in connection with his upcoming sentencing.

U.S. Judge James B. Zagel said that there was nothing new in the recordings and that Blagojevich's late filing of the motion, which was submitted on Thanksgiving and stamped "received" on Monday, was “simply wrongful.”
