Universal, Dreamworks Lifted 'Cowboys And Aliens': Artist

Law360, New York (December 1, 2011, 3:57 PM EST) -- A comic book artist lodged a copyright lawsuit against Universal Pictures Inc. and Dreamworks II Distribution Co. LLC on Thursday in Texas, claiming the hit movie “Cowboys and Aliens” copied his comic of the same name.

The lawsuit — which also targets Platinum Studios Inc. and its chairman, Scott Mitchell Rosenberg, who produced the film and the graphic novel on which it was based — claims the movie featuring Harrison Ford as an extraterrestrial-fighting cowboy bears too close a resemblance to a volume of Steven John...
