Fraudster Who Helped In Google Probe Gets 6 Years

Law360, New York (December 2, 2011, 8:51 PM EST) -- A founder of an Internet electronics supplier who helped in investigators’ Google Inc. AdWords marketing probe, which was settled for $500 million, was sentenced Friday to a 70-month prison sentence for his role in a scheme that defrauded over 80 businesses.

Because of David Whitaker’s cooperation with federal investigators, the U.S. attorney’s office said, U.S. District Judge William E. Smith had accepted the government’s sentencing recommendations that Whitaker be sentenced to almost 6 years and full restitution to his victims, which totaled just over $10 million....
