SCE Customer Says Old Meters Overcharged For Electricity

Law360, New York (December 7, 2011, 3:38 PM EST) -- A Southern California Edison Co. customer launched a class action against the company in California on Monday, claiming mechanical meters it used prior to the installation of smart meters mismeasured customers' electricity usage.

Los Alamitos, Calif., resident Robert Kleinberger alleges in a complaint filed in state court that SCE overcharged him by about $70,000 for electricity from 2001 to September 2010, when a SmartConnect meter was installed at his home.
