Dutch Court Clears Way For ABN Amro Sale

Law360 (July 13, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- In a boost for Barclays PLC, the Dutch Supreme Court has tossed out an earlier ruling that tried to derail a key sale in the proposed merger agreement between ABN Amro Bank NV and the British financial giant, moving the deal one step closer to completion.

On Friday, the Netherlands high court overturned a lower court ruling that had banned ABN Amro from selling its Chicago-based subsidiary LaSalle Bank Corp. to Bank of America, a decision that had prompted outcry and infighting from the parties involved....
