Low Funds For Contracts Put NASA Program At Risk: GAO

Law360, New York (December 16, 2011, 3:13 PM EST) -- The U.S. Government Accountability Office said Thursday that NASA's budget constraints could prevent it from awarding multiple contracts for its commercial crew transportation program, thwarting its ability to sustain enough competition to control costs.

In a report to congressional committees, the GAO also said NASA might not be able to meet its critical need to transport crew to the International Space Station starting in 2016 because its past experiences with government and commercial development efforts suggest it will not keep up with the aggressive program schedule...
