TAP, Brussels Air Deals May Violate Antitrust Laws: EU

Law360, New York (December 19, 2011, 12:46 PM EST) -- The European Commission confirmed Monday that inspectors raided Brussels Airlines and TAP Air Portugal last week as part of an ongoing investigation into the airlines' collaborative agreements, which may violate EU competition laws.

Commission antitrust officials conducted unannounced inspections of the two airlines’ headquarters in Belgium and Portugal on Dec. 13, amid suspicions that TAP and Brussels Airlines were in violation of EU antitrust rules that prohibit cartels and restrictive business practices.
