Tiffany Strikes Deal To End ZIP Code Class Action

Law360, New York (December 20, 2011, 12:58 PM EST) -- A California federal judge on Monday gave initial approval to Tiffany and Co.'s settlement of a class action claiming the jeweler illegally collected ZIP codes from customers paying with credit cards.

The lawsuit accused Tiffany of violating a California law that blocks the collection of personal identification information, such as addresses and telephone numbers, as part of credit card transactions.
