Boston Scientific Pays $195M To Bury Defibrillator MDL

Law360, New York (July 16, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Boston Scientific Corp. will pay up $195 million to settle some 4,000 claims by people who allege that Guidant Corp. knew all along that the implantable heart defibrillators inserted into their chests were faulty.

Boston Scientific, which acquired Guidant last year, announced the deal on Friday evening, two weeks before the start date for the first bellwether trial.
