Apple Ends Playlist Patent Fight With Personal Audio

Law360, New York (December 21, 2011, 6:09 PM EST) -- Apple Inc. on Wednesday reached a deal to end Personal Audio LLC’s patent suit claiming the tech giant had incorporated its playlist navigation patents into Apple wireless devices, putting to rest a long-running feud between the two companies.

Personal Audio and Apple filed joint motions to dismiss in three separate cases in Texas federal court, ending Personal Audio’s allegations that Apple’s iPod, iPhone and iPad devices infringe the company’s patents for methods of navigating stored media files.

The motions to dismiss did not disclose additional settlement details.
