Medical Supply Co. Owner Gets 12 Years In Medicaid Fraud

Law360, New York (December 23, 2011, 2:19 PM EST) -- A Texas federal judge sentenced the former owner of two Houston medical equipment companies to more than 12 years in prison Wednesday for filing false claims with the state's Medicaid program for urinary incontinence supplies.

Benjamin B. Essien, who owned companies named Logic World Medical and Roben Medical, was sentenced to 145 months behind bars by U.S. District Judge Gray H. Miller. He must also recompensate Texas Medicaid for $1.46 million.
