Gateway Reaches Deal To Unplug Faulty PC Class Action

Law360, New York (December 22, 2011, 8:37 PM EST) -- A California federal judge on Thursday approved a settlement ending a proposed class action against Gateway Inc. over allegedly defective computers, five months after she sent the claims of several named plaintiffs to arbitration.

The parties agreed to a joint stipulation to dismiss the suit with prejudice, which was signed by U.S. District Judge Josephine Staton Tucker. Exact terms of the settlement weren't disclosed, but Paul Rafferty of Jones Day, who represents Gateway, said the plaintiffs had agreed to mutually settle their claims on a nonclass basis.
