FCC Approves AT&T's $2B Deal For Qualcomm Licenses

Law360, New York (December 22, 2011, 11:02 PM EST) -- The Federal Communication Commission on Thursday greenlighted AT&T Inc.’s $1.9 billion deal to buy airwave licenses from Qualcomm Inc., days after the wireless telecommunications giant announced its failed $39 billion bid for rival mobile service provider T-Mobile USA Inc.

In a 96-page order, the FCC said that the deal would provide AT&T with six megahertz of unpaired 700 megahertz spectrum across the U.S. and an additional six megahertz of the same in five major cities, including New York and San Francisco, with markets that cover more...
