Amazon Resolves Kindle Patent Feud

Law360, New York (January 4, 2012, 9:22 PM EST) -- Amazon.com Inc. and SmartPhone Technologies LLC on Tuesday said they resolved their dispute over SmartPhone’s claims that the online retail giant’s blockbuster Kindle e-reader violated five digital communication and network patents.

In a joint motion filed in Texas federal court, the companies asked the court to dismiss the claims and counterclaims in the suit with prejudice.

The companies did not disclose the details of their agreement, stating only that the parties would bear their own expenses and attorneys' fees.
