Spain Probes Vodafone, Others On Antitrust Worries

Law360, New York (January 4, 2012, 11:51 AM EST) -- Spain's antitrust watchdog on Wednesday began investigating whether the local wireless units of telecom giants Telefonica SA, Vodafone Group PLC and France Telecom SA abused their market dominance by overcharging other carriers for wholesale interconnection services.

The Comision Nacional de la Competencia — Spain's national competition commission — launched the probe based on a complaint from rival mobile provider British Telecommunications PLC and its local unit alleging that the trio was violating both national and European Union antitrust laws banning the abuse of dominant market position....
