Actavis Pays $118M To Settle Drug Pricing Claims

Law360, New York (January 4, 2012, 11:04 PM EST) -- Affiliates of generics maker Actavis Group agreed last week to pay $118.6 million to settle claims from the federal government and four states including Iowa and South Carolina in multidistrict litigation accusing several pharmaceutical companies of reporting inflated drug prices to Medicaid.

The settlement, filed Dec. 29 in Massachusetts federal court, ends federal qui tam claims against Actavis, as well as claims brought by the attorneys general of Florida, Iowa, New York and South Carolina. Of the total settlement sum, the U.S. will receive $108 million....
