Vizio, Acer, Others Hit With LCD Screen Patent Suit

Law360, New York (January 9, 2012, 1:56 PM EST) -- Vizio Inc., Westinghouse Digital LLC and Acer America Corp. were among several liquid crystal display television makers hit Thursday with a lawsuit in California by a research and development company that claims they infringed six thin-film transistor technology patents.

In a complaint filed in California federal court, Japan-based Semiconductor Energy Laboratory Co. Ltd. also claims that Chimei Innolux Corp., its predecessor Chi Mei Optoelectronics USA Inc. and ViewSonic Corp. have sold TFT-LCD panels that violate the patents.
