Investor Headed To Prison For Role In $930M Ponzi Scheme

Law360, New York (January 10, 2012, 7:28 PM EST) -- A New Jersey federal judge sentenced a Florida real estate developer to a year and a day in prison Tuesday for his role luring more than 60 investors into convicted fraudster Nevin Shapiro’s $930 million Ponzi scheme.

Sydney Jack Williams pled guilty Sept. 26 to one count of subscribing to a false tax return for failing to report $12 million in commissions earned from the scheme to the Internal Revenue Service. U.S. District Judge Susan D. Wigenton also ordered him to serve a year of supervised...
