Kyocera Broke Ad Deal Over Ben Stein's Enviro Views: Suit

Law360, New York (January 12, 2012, 1:36 PM EST) -- Actor Ben Stein sued a Kyocera Corp. unit on Wednesday, alleging the company breached a contract by backing out of an endorsement agreement when his oppositional opinions on global warming came to light.

Stein sued Kyocera Mita America Inc. in California state court, claiming the printer manufacturer backed out of a $300,000 agreement by which Stein was to appear in commercials and a company event, attributing its decision to Stein's “official position on various policy issues,” much of which was gleaned from unsourced claims on the...
