Cadwalader Can't Shake Nomura's $70M Malpractice Suit

Law360, New York (January 13, 2012, 8:07 PM EST) -- Cadwalader Wickersham & Taft LLP on Wednesday lost a bid to shake a long-running malpractice suit claiming the firm gave bad advice on the securitization of commercial mortgages that caused millions of dollars in losses for Nomura Asset Capital Corp., after a judge found “issues of fact abound” in the case.

Cadwalader had asked Judge Melvin Schweitzer to rule in its favor on Nomura’s only remaining claim in the suit, which said the firm gave it such negligent tax-related advice on a $50 million mortgage loan...
