Pentagon Rule May Clear Up Timing On Contract Changes

Law360, New York (January 19, 2012, 5:06 PM EST) -- The U.S. Department of Defense floated a rule Thursday aimed at resolving disputes or confusion over contract modifications when multiple changes to a contract have the same effective date.

In a Federal Register notice, the DOD proposed amending the Federal Acquisition Regulation to include rules that lay out the order in which contracting officers should apply modifications so that the actual content of the modified contract is made clear. The FAR currently lacks any such rules.
