Raymond Carver's Widow Sues Publisher Over Book Rights

Law360, New York (January 23, 2012, 6:49 PM EST) -- The wife of late author Raymond Carver filed a copyright suit Friday against Skyhorse Publishing Inc., which she claims printed a book containing photos of Carver and excerpts of his work without authorization.

The book, "Carver Country: The World of Raymond Carver," was first published by Arcade Publishing Inc. in 1994, six years after Carver's death, according to the suit, filed in New York federal court.

In 2004, the rights to the book reverted to Carver's widow, Tess Gallagher, and her co-plaintiff, photographer Bob Adelman, according...
