BBQ Bar Famous Dave's Burned Philly Booze Buyers: Suit

Law360, New York (January 24, 2012, 3:39 PM EST) -- Barbecue restaurant chain Famous Dave's of America Inc. was hit with a proposed class action Wednesday claiming the company's Philadelphia locations overcharged consumers by socking them with excessive taxes on alcoholic beverages.

The three franchises in the city charged customers 18 percent sales tax on drinks, which is well in excess of the city's 10 percent liquor tax, according to the complaint filed in Pennsylvania federal court.
