Staples Settles Wage-And-Hour Action For $5M

Law360, Los Angeles (January 24, 2012, 10:05 PM EST) -- A California judge on Tuesday preliminarily approved Staples Inc.’s $5 million settlement with a class of employees who claim the office supply chain denied them pay for vacations and floating holidays, issuing a tentative ruling signing off on the deal.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Ernest M. Hiroshige’s tentative ruling Tuesday, if it becomes final, will mark the beginning of the end for claims that the office superstore’s vacation and floating holiday time policies violated California’s strict labor laws as far back as 2006.
