Business Groups Balk At Plan To Merge Export Agencies

Law360, New York (January 24, 2012, 7:18 PM EST) -- A coalition of nearly 90 U.S. business groups on Tuesday expressed concerns over President Barack Obama's plan to shrink the federal government by consolidating the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative with five other trade-related agencies.

In a letter to the president, the groups contended that eliminating the USTR could have a negative impact on the development of U.S. trade policy, calling the agency “extremely efficient, focused and effective.”
