$50M In Noncompetitive Navy Contracts Justified: Report

Law360, New York (January 25, 2012, 6:00 PM EST) -- The U.S. Department of Defense's inspector general found Friday that the U.S. Navy's aircraft equipment oversight arm in New Jersey did not err in awarding $50 million worth of contracts without competition.

Each of the 23 Naval Air Systems Command Lakehurst contract awards examined by the inspector general were properly justified as sole source, according to a report.

“NAVAIR Lakehurst personnel adequately justified the use of other than full and open competition on the justifications and approvals for all 23 contracts reviewed,” the report said....
