Motorola Didn't Infringe Apple Network Component IP: Judge

Law360, New York (January 26, 2012, 9:58 PM EST) -- A federal judge in Illinois on Wednesday further whittled down a sprawling patent dispute between Apple Inc. and Motorola Inc. over smartphone technology, ruling that Motorola didn't infringe two Apple patents related to replaceable network components.

Circuit Judge Richard Posner, presiding over the case in the Northern District of Illinois by special designation, also denied Motorola summary judgment of noninfringement for two other Apple patents and clarified the language of an infringement claim for fifth Apple patent.
