Twitter's New Censorship Policy Draws Backlash

Law360, New York (January 27, 2012, 3:55 PM EST) -- Twitter users organized protests Friday after the company announced it would consider censoring content on a country-by-country basis based on local speech restrictions.

The social networking giant said in a blog post Thursday that it had given itself the ability to prevent users in a specific country from viewing restricted content. Users in other countries would still be able to view the content, it said.

In order to comply with a specific country's laws in the past, Twitter had to delete the content for all users...
