Mortgage Officers Sue Compass Bank For Overtime Pay

Law360, New York (February 2, 2012, 4:56 PM EST) -- A mortgage-banking officer lodged a proposed class action against Compass Bank on Thursday in Texas, alleging the bank failed to properly compensate employees for overtime worked.

In a complaint filed in Texas federal court, Kevin Vaughan claimed Compass Bank misclassified mortgage-banking officers as exempt from overtime pay in violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

“Defendants’ deliberate illegal classification of its [workers] as exempt from minimum wage and overtime requirements, and not allowing them to record overtime hours results in defendants violating the FLSA,” the complaint...
