Mercedes-Benz Faces Action Alleging Hand Lacerations

Law360, New York (February 6, 2012, 2:46 PM EST) -- A putative class action launched Thursday accuses Mercedes-Benz USA LLC of selling cars with defective chrome-plated interior trim pieces that can lacerate passengers' hands.

Ani Avedisian brought the suit in California federal court, seeking to represent all Californians who bought or leased Mercedes-Benz vehicles from model years 2006 through 2011.

According to the suit, the chrome coating on the interior trim pieces can flake, crack and peel, creating sharp edges that can injure consumers who touch or grab the pieces.
