Plaintiffs Defend ERISA Suit Against GM

Law360, New York (July 26, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A group of General Motors Corp. employees defended a proposed class action against the company's pension fund and a partner investment firm on Wednesday, rebutting the defendants' claim that they had filed the suit too late.

The lawsuit, filed in March, alleged that GM Investment Management Co. and State Street Bank and Trust Co. had mishandled GM workers' pension funds by making dubious investments, breaching their fiduciary duty under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.
