RIAA Appeals DMCA Case Vs. Charter Comms.

Law360 (March 1, 2005, 12:00 AM EST) -- The recording industry has appealed a federal court's ruling that it can't compel internet service providers to identify music downloaders under the 1988 Digital Millennium Copyright Act.

In its appeal, the Recording Industry Association of America argues that a ruling by a panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit, if upheld, “will deprive copyright owners of a critically important tool for stopping the massive infringement of copyrights over the Internet.”
