NY Comedy Club Sues Filmmakers Over Failed Documentary

Law360, New York (February 15, 2012, 2:43 PM EST) -- The owners of the Comic Strip, a legendary New York comedy club that has hosted Eddie Murphy and Jerry Seinfeld, sued a documentary studio on Tuesday, alleging the filmmakers violated a filming agreement and plan to use footage without authorization.

Comic Strip Promotions Inc. and owners Richard Tienken and Robert Wachs sued Letterbox Pictures Inc. — best known for its Emmy-winning “Souls of New York” series on PBS — and producers Abby Russell and Brent Sterling Nemetz for breach of contract in Manhattan Supreme Court....
