Consumer Finds Target's 'Pure Honey' Claims Sticky

Law360, New York (February 16, 2012, 3:42 PM EST) -- A disgruntled consumer lodged a putative class action against Target Corp. last week in California federal court, alleging a product the company markets as “pure honey” is neither pure nor honey.

In her complaint filed Feb. 9, Bertha Cardona says she was tricked into purchasing a bottle of Target's Market Pantry Honey by the company's deceptive advertising, and alleges Target had no right to legally refer to the substance as honey because testing had shown all the pollen had been removed from the product.
