Greek Telecom Co. Hellas Files Ch. 15 To Block NY Suits

Law360, New York (February 16, 2012, 11:07 PM EST) -- The owner of Greek mobile phone company Wind Hellas Telecommunications SA filed for Chapter 15 bankruptcy protection Thursday in New York federal court to halt a $359 million creditor suit while the ailing company liquidates in the U.K.

Hellas Telecommunications Luxembourg II SCA listed assets and debts of more than $100 million each in its petition. The company’s foreign representatives urged the New York court to recognize the proceedings in the Chancery Court of the U.K. High Court of Justice.
