GAO Scraps Utility's Protest Of $278M Privatization Contract

Law360, New York (February 17, 2012, 7:21 PM EST) -- The U.S. Government Accountability Office has denied Baltimore Gas & Electric Co.'s protest of a $277.7 million contract to privatize electricity delivery in Aberdeen, Md., saying in a decision published Friday that the government acted reasonably when rejecting BGE's higher-priced bid.

The Defense Logistics Agency chose Calif.-based City Light & Power Inc. to privatize the electric distribution system at the Aberdeen Proving Ground, saying BGE's bid did not meet affordability and risk requirements required in the agency's solicitation.
