Calif. AG, App Giants Unveil New Privacy Blueprint

Law360, New York (February 22, 2012, 6:29 PM EST) -- California's attorney general announced an agreement Wednesday with Apple Inc., Google Inc., Inc. and three other mobile app platform operators that effectively establishes a nationwide, legally enforceable standard for app privacy policies.

The agreement requires app providers to have a privacy policy and to give users the chance to review the policy before they download the app. Under the agreement, the policies will always appear in the same place on the app download screen.
