Judge Tosses $20M Malpractice Suit Against Paul Hastings

Law360, New York (February 23, 2012, 7:01 PM EST) -- A New York state judge on Wednesday dismissed a $20 million malpractice lawsuit against Paul Hastings LLP over a failed property investment deal for an office building in Manhattan, ruling that the plaintiffs' destruction of certain documents inhibited Paul Hastings' defense.

New York State Judge Bernard J. Fried found that since 915 Broadway Associates LLC had deleted and permanently destroyed physical and electronic evidence related to a real estate contract with nonparty Normandy Acquisitions LLC, it would be nearly impossible for Paul Hastings to defend itself...
