Twitter Should Tread Carefully In Data Deal, Attys Say

Law360, New York (February 29, 2012, 9:44 PM EST) -- Twitter Inc.'s sale of billions of tweets to a data company Tuesday may draw scrutiny from privacy authorities, even if the social media site's agreement with users technically allows for such a deal, attorneys say.

U.K.- and San Francisco-based DataSift announced Tuesday that it had entered an agreement with Twitter allowing it to search every public post on the site since January 2010. Typical users can only search posts no more than a week old.
