Hostess Defends 'Necessary' Ch. 11 Pension Cuts

Law360, New York (March 1, 2012, 4:52 PM EST) -- Hostess Inc. on Wednesday pushed back against unions protesting its move to drop out of multiemployer pension plans in its New York Chapter 11 case, saying the cuts were proposed in good faith and are necessary for the company's restructuring.

The bankrupt company told U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Robert Drain that it had made every effort to work with unions and find a solution that provided for union employees' retirements while freeing the company of crippling pension costs.
