Calif. Council Merges 13 Cases Over Sutter Health Data Leak

Law360, New York (March 2, 2012, 9:34 PM EST) -- The Judicial Council of California has combined 13 putative class actions against Sutter Health over an October data breach that allegedly compromised the privacy of more than 4 million patients' electronic data, according to a notice filed Wednesday.

Judge David W. Abbott ordered the coordination of the cases Feb. 17, saying they're likely to involve “numerous pretrial motions raising difficult or novel legal issues that will be time-consuming to resolve,” large numbers of witnesses, substantial amounts of evidence and large numbers of separately represented parties....
