FTC's Brill Calls For Stronger Coordination With State AGs

Law360, New York (March 6, 2012, 6:31 PM EST) -- Federal Trade Commissioner Julie Brill on Tuesday pledged to expand the agency's existing coordination with state regulators in policing consumer fraud matters in order to encompass emerging online privacy threats.

While the FTC has had success in recent years working with state attorneys general to punish financial fraudsters, the rise of technology that potentially compromises user privacy necessitates increased coordination between federal and state enforcement arms, Brill said during a keynote address to the National Association of Attorneys General.
