Medicare Pushes To Recruit Seniors In Fraud Fight

Law360, New York (March 7, 2012, 5:46 PM EST) -- A renewed effort to get seniors to report potential Medicare fraud, rolled out Wednesday in the form of redesigned benefits statements that conspicuously mention a reward for fraud tips, has some experts concerned that providers will soon face an onslaught of patient complaints and government investigations.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services on Wednesday said it spent 18 months researching and redesigning the statements to make them easier to understand and to encourage more fraud reporting from beneficiaries. The statements are sent to beneficiaries regularly...
