Honda Paints Defect Suit As Bid To Whitewash Warranty

Law360, New York (March 9, 2012, 1:49 PM EST) -- American Honda Motor Co. Inc. sought dismissal Thursday of a proposed class action in California over an alleged defect that causes its cars' paint to appear faded, arguing that the suit marked a "radical" attempt to overcome expired warranties.

"This lawsuit is an unsupportable attempt to revive a warranty claim after the warranty period has expired," Honda said. "Indeed, if plaintiff is permitted to proceed with her claims, then the time and mileage limitations on automobile warranties would be meaningless."
