Consumers Say 500K VWs Burn Motor Oil Too Quickly

Law360, New York (March 9, 2012, 8:28 PM EST) -- Volkswagen Group of America Inc. won't fix a defect making more than 500,000 Volkswagen and Audi vehicles go through motor oil at an abnormally high rate, according to a putative class action removed to California federal court Thursday.

The Northern District of California has jurisdiction over the case under the Class Action Fairness Act, based on diversity grounds and the fact that the number of allegedly defective vehicles makes the amount in controversy exceed the law's $5 million threshold, according to Volkswagen.
