JPL Painted Fired Worker's Theory As Religion, Judge Hears

Law360, Los Angeles (March 12, 2012, 9:56 PM EDT) -- Jet Propulsion Laboratory supervisors who purportedly fired a computer system administrator for promoting intelligent design to co-workers wrongly characterized the theory as a religious viewpoint rather than science, his attorneys told a California judge on the first day of his wrongful termination trial Monday.

“This is about stereotyping intelligent design as religious dogma when it isn't,” the plaintiff's attorney William J. Becker told California Superior Court Judge Ernest M. Hiroshige during arguments on evidentiary motions Monday. “It's science.”
