Fox, Other Networks Want Ban On Internet Streamer Aereo

Law360, New York (March 23, 2012, 3:03 PM EDT) -- Networks including Fox Television Stations Inc., PBS and Univison Television Group Inc. on Wednesday urged a New York federal judge to block online streaming service Aereo Inc., arguing that restreaming TV signals for online viewing constitutes copyright infringement.

In a memorandum seeking a court order enjoining Aereo from permitting users to stream shows online, TV networks claimed the IAC/InterActive Corp.-backed startup’s unlicensed broadcast of copyrighted programming violated the Copyright Act of 1976.
